The Friends of Fort Selden is a group dedicated not only to the preservation of the remains of fort Selden but to the history that it represents. They recognize that the only way to preserve history is to share it. Thus the members of FOFS do a great deal of research into their respective fields in an effort to accurately portray life in the nineteenth century west. Many of these reenactors travel across the country to participate in living history and reenactment events, such as The Battle of Little Bighorn or Gettysberg. The Fort Selden Military Committee is dedicated to the accurate portrayal of the soldier's life in the ninteenth century west. Each month the Military Committee has an encampment at the fort. Occasionally the regular monthly encampment is held at another historical sight, but the committee works to assure that at least 2 people will be encamped at the fort at those times. The Ladies of Fort Selden is a group of women dedicated to the accurate portrayal of women's lives on the frontier. This group researches and demonstrates lost skills of home making and frontier taming. Without the ladies, the Friends would certainly be an unsavory crew of uncivilized ruffians, as displayed by the motley group here, on the right.->

The Paso del Norte Pistoleros is an organization that brings the Old West alive. These men and women perform authentic reenactments of gunfights of the late 1800s. They focus their efforts and research on El Paso and environs.
